Hello! We
are Mark and Kenzi Fogleman. Two people
who fell in love because God placed a love for Africa in both of our hearts
long before we ever met.
I (Kenzi)
grew up in a suburb of Oklahoma City my whole life. The Lord began to grow my heart for Africa
while I was in high school. At that time
I had no idea what to expect. In
college, my love for Africa grew more and more especially for the sweet,
adorable children. I studied Sociology so that I could learn more about how to
love and help the vulnerable children in Africa.
Mark spent
the first seven years of his life growing up in Kenya. His parents are both family physicians and
worked at a local hospital for ten years.
After moving back to the states, Mark lived in South East Kentucky where
he graduated High School and went to the University of Kentucky. Go Wild Cats!!
Mark is a civil engineer in training and has always had a desire to go back to Africa and
help with the water crisis while also sharing the love of Jesus.
How did we
meet you ask? Mark and I met in Mexico in 2009 while I was taking a year off of
school and serving alongside my parents and the ministry they were with. Mark came down with a group from CRU to work
with local Universities in the area.
Now, while I was in college I would pray for the man I hoped to marry one
day. I had a list of five specific
things I wanted in my future husband {yes, I was that girl!}. He had to love the Lord, love his family,
love me, want to serve Jesus in Africa, and have blue eyes and dark hair {I
threw that last one in for funJ}. When Mark arrived on our ministry campus in Mexico,
my best friend came running out of her apartment and told me my husband was on
the property. I did not believe her at
first because let’s be honest, not many men want to move to Africa. But it turns out she was right!
The year
following we got to know each other more through facebook and phone conversations. The next summer we started dating and dated
long distance for a year before I moved up to Kentucky where we dated another
year before getting married in 2012. God’s
hand has been on our relationship since before met and He is now leading us
{and our 2 beautiful children} in full-time ministry in Kenya!
