It’s a pretty surreal time for us as we are currently
traveling and moving to Kenya. We write
this post in a crowded airport terminal with bags towering around us. This step in our journey of following Jesus into
cross-cultural missions has been highly anticipated and bathed in prayer for
quite a while. And now as we say loving goodbyes
and will soon have new hellos, we have a few more hours to reflect on what God
has done over the last few years. From
even before we met when we each had passions and visions of serving Him in
Africa, to bringing us together in a spectacular way in Mexico, to showing us
the place He has been preparing for us in Kenya, and to providing a very
supportive (in so many ways including prayer and financial partnership) group
of family and friends across the U.S. and world, it is all because of Him and
not us.
We are in a time that we can truthfully testify that God is
at work in the world and it is amazing!
We know anything we do on our own is futile and are privileged to be a
part of joining Him in His mission. He called
us. We don’t deserve to be here. He gave us a passion and heart for our Kenyan
brothers and sisters. We pray that His
love will overflow and that many will draw closer to Him in spite of our
weaknesses and faults. He opened up
doors for amazing trainings and work with our sending agency The Mission
Society and Kenyan partners at God’s Grace for All Nations. If on our own, we definitely would be pretty lost
and unprepared. He provided the dozens
of financial and crucial prayerful partners on His timing and with those He has
prepared. Trusting His timing and
provision each and every day up to this point was not the easiest thing we ever
did, but it has been greater than we ever imagined.
Reflecting on what God has done and all the friends and
family that have been a part of this journey with us so far, we can only say
praise be to God and thank you from the bottom of our hearts to you all. With this in mind as we look to the very near
future full of excitement, adventure, and a lot of unknown, we can only pray that
by grace we will continue to follow Jesus and faithfully join Him and not
depend on our own talents, abilities, and desires, that we will come to him
with everything (in the good and bad times), that we will maintain a learners mentality
and servants heart, and trust His timing.
Prayers are much appreciated as we continue on in this
transition with new friends, a new environment, living arrangement, language,
food, etc. Thank you for truly showing
us what a supportive Body of Christ and Family of God looks like. May all we do be for Him, with Him, and in
His power. To God be all the glory! Have a great day and see you in Kenya J
